BeerParc and Roastown Certified Open; Cochinita Tomorrow

New, 1 comment

1) Midtown West: Beerparc, Jeffrey Chodrow's new beer garden at the Eventi Hotel, opened earlier this week. There are ten taps pouring five beers for now, and food stalls from Harold Dieterle (called Soi 29), Edi & The Wolf, Ed Brown, and Zak Pelaccio's Fatty Snack. All food and beer is purchased with $3 tickets you buy upon entry. Serious Eats checked out the goods, and the early winner seems to be Dieterle's Thai fried chicken. They also note that the space's 34-foot screen is "broadcasting everything from artsy films to the Mets or Yanks games," and you can bring your dog, too. Status: Certified open; 845 6th Avenue.

2) Midtown West: DNA Info reports that a new location of Roastown Coffee is now open on 34th St. This 24-hour cafe will not only brew coffee, but also have self serve frozen yogurt, sushi, sandwiches, fruits and salads. Status: Certified open; 267 W 34th Street, (212) 290-8015.

3) Clinton Hill: Grub Street and Brownstoner share some details on Cochinita in Clinton Hill. All corn tortillas are made in house, and the menu includes cochinita pibil (pork braised in oranges, spices, and banana leaves) and sides like a cactus salad. Owner Adam Frank comes from LA and claims that he's "a gringo preaching the taco gospel.” Status: Soft opening Friday, opening party June 3; 922 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, (718) 789-7700.
