Colicchio & Sons' High Line Project Called The Lot on Tap

Soon enough, the High Line, Chelsea's very wonderful aerial park, will be bookended by drinking destinations. The southern end already has The Standard Beer Garden, and after Section 2 of the park opens next month, it will feature another new bar at its exit, in a huge parking lot leased from Related. Back when the High Line folks won approval earlier this month from Community Board 4 for a beer and wine license, they noted they would offer food and drink from Tom Colicchio's restaurant Colicchio & Sons for a capacity of 350 people. But now it has a name: The Lot on Tap. They'll be serving, Colicchio tells Diner's Journal, "food that is sustainable, and local, and that goes well with beer and wine — and that isn’t terribly expensive" as well as a raw bar and eventually a grill.

The Lot will also include a rotating selection of five food trucks starting with the Red Hook Lobster Pound, ice cream truck CoolHaus, The Taco Truck, Taim Mobile, and Kelvin Natural Slush Company. Food will be served seven days a week from 11 AM - 10 PM (11 PM on Thurs. - Sat.) and it will be open from June through September (when their liquor license runs out).

And that's not all the food on the High Line. Stay tuned for news on a small eatery over Chelsea Market later this year.
