Back in October, reps from Eric Ripert's four star restaurant Le Bernardin confirmed that they were considering a major revamp of the restaurant but noted it was too early too discuss the details. Now it's on the books. The Cuozz reports today that the restaurant will close for a month-long renovation starting at the beginning of August. And the timing isn't random. He also notes that Ripert and his partner Maguy Le Coze just renewed their lease, which was just about to run out. They now have 15 more years in the space with two five-year extension options.
Whatever the renovations include, there will be a green element; Ripert recently said he hoped to make the restaurant "entirely sustainable/green" by the end of 2011. Another bonus? It will give Sifty a chance to re-review the four star, as Bruni did after Daniel's major revamp in 2008.
