Two Years Later Portuguese Alfama Relocates and Reopens

New, 2 comments
[Krieger, 5/19/11]

Alfama, a 10 year-old Portuguese restaurant that closed in the West Village in late 2009 because of a rent increase—the space is now home to Italian newcomer Spasso—will once again see the light of day. Owners Tarcísio Costa and Miguel Jerónimo will reopen the restaurant next week in a larger bi-level Midtown space with a slightly revamped menu. They'll serve snacks like rabbit meatballs and fried cod tongues, entrees like red snapper with lobster rice and a stew called Mariscada Alfama, and a large selection of Portuguese cheeses and desserts. See the full menu below. Alfama will open on Monday for dinner and later for lunch.
