The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, a kooky two year-old soft serve truck that already has multiple TV cameos and a book deal under its belt, is the latest mobile operation to go brick and mortar. Serious Eats learns that owners Bryan Petroff and Doug Quin plan on opening up shop in the old, short lived Xoom juice bar space on East 7th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A this June.

They'll continue to run the truck, known for its toppings like crushed wasabi peas, olive oil, and dulce de leche, but the larger store space will allow them to hire more people, create more toppings, and eventually launch their own homemade soft serve and hard packed ice creams. In addition to the ice cream—it will just be vanilla and chocolate when they launch—they'll sell desserts from the Treats Truck, ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery, coffee, and root beer on tap.
