In January, news broke that restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow was teaming up with the Kutsher family of the Catskills to open Kutsher's Deli in Tribeca. He explained that the restaurant, a spinoff of the restaurant at the 100 year-old resort, would be a "modern Jewish inspired bistro" (not kosher) featuring updated and classic versions of many of the dishes served at the old hotel.
Last night, at a Community Board 1 committee meeting, the neighbors passed the plan presented by Zach Kutsher. The restaurant will be located in the old Mai House space, will seat 167 with 30 tables, and will open, if all goes as planned, in September. Click through to Tribeca Citizen to check out the lengthy menu, which offers everything from egg creams and varnishkes to fried chicken, meatloaf, kugel, and "Ghetto style" artichokes.
