It's worth mentioning during Burger Week that Danny Meyer's Gramercy Tavern serves an off the menu burger in their Tavern Room at lunch. Every day the burger is made again from scratch —meaning they grind the meat and bake the buns that day—and sold until they run out, which can be 1 PM or it could be 5 PM. What's in it: a patty made from beef butchered and ground in the restaurant, served on a wheat bun topped with bulgur, and topped with crumbled cloth-bound cheddar cheese from Jasper Hill Farms, pickled watermelon rind, cucumbers, a trio of onions, tomato, lettuce and homemade ketchup, mustard, and smoked bacon mayo. Whew. Quite the mouthful. It's $18. Ask for it at lunch.
