1) East Village: EV Grieve reports on a bit of progress at the upcoming Prima Strada on 1st Street in the old Elephant space. According to signs they will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. [PLYWOOD]

They notice signage has gone up at the new Birdbath Bakery on 3rd Avenue, reports that a new Filipino place is opening in the old Wai Cafe space, and notices some major progress at Caffe Buon Gusto, a long stalled spot on 5th and Ave. B. 3) Astoria: Adam Kuban notices that Just Burgers is opening on 31st and Ditmars. [PLYWOOD]

4) West Village: Vanishing New York notes that both a Think Coffee and a Starbucks are opening soon on 8th Avenue just south of 14th Street. [PLYWOOD]

5) Cobble Hill: Pardon Me For Asking is excited to report that there's finally progress at the long abandoned 241 Smith Street space on the corner of Douglass. It was home to Jason Neroni's Porchetta and Carniceria after that. Permits went up last week, and the place has been empty since May '08. [PLYWOOD]

6) West Village: Zagat reports that the signage is up at Tremont, the restaurant going into the old La Focaccia space on Bank St. [PLYWOOD]
