It's been a while since we checked in with The Highliner, the new project in the old Empire Diner space. It was originally slated to debut in September of last year, then early January, and now, finally, the paper is off and it might actually be close to opening its doors to Chelsea. According to the permits in the window, the Gotham City Restaurant Group, of Coffee Shop fame, are still on board. But will it still be an all-hours diner similar to Empire, but with a "Coffee Shop flavor"? Will they bring back the iconic Empire State Building statue that once adorned the roof? Is it really going to be called The Highliner? Only time will tell.
