New York Nightlife Fixture Don Hill Passes Away

New, 7 comments

Sad news from the nightlife world as Don Hill, founder of the eponymous nightclub and New York nightlife fixture, passed away last night. Word began spreading last night at about 8:30, and a tribute party at Don Hill's was quickly put together for last night where friends and acquaintances raised a glass in his honor at midnight. As Mr. Hill told the Observer, Don Hill's began in 1993 when Ear Inn owner Martin Sheridan pushed him to open the place. Soon the venue was hosting outrageous parties that were a step ahead of the nightlife culture at the time. The venue's last great hurrah was the MisShapes era in the middle of the past decade when the club welcomed Princess Coldstare and her Muppet partners after they had outgrown Luke and LeRoy's. A few years later, Hill agreed to a partnership with Nur Khan and Paul Sevigny, allowing him to stay involved with the space but turning over the majority of the ownership and operations to the dynamic duo. A sad day for nightlife and Don Hill's friends and family. He will be missed.
