Legendary doorman, fur coat lover and sometimes actor Wass Stevens is in the papers again today, as makeup artist and new reality television star Jasen Kaplan alleges that Stevens used homophobic slurs while rejecting Kaplan from Avenue. This allegation pales in comparison to some of Wass's more legendary tales, such as when he attacked someone with the business end of the velvet rope just weeks after Avenue opened, and in the grand scheme of things, really doesn't seem like that big a deal. So another wanna be reality star wasn't allowed in a nightclub! Boohoo! Of course the use of nasty language or any kind of racial or ethnic slurs is horrible and not necessary, but we chalk this up to someone having hurt feelings and using the press to extract their revenge. Maybe Avenue owners Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss should force Wass to go to sensitivity training to make sure that this never happens again.
