The original plans for 1 World Trade Center (fka The Freedom Tower) included a two-story Windows of the World style restaurant on the 95-story building's top floors. Developers quickly reduced the restaurant to one story due to cost, and now The Post reports that the plans have been scrapped altogether. The project was dropped due to the massive expense and "the difficulty of finding a restaurateur willing to run a likely money-losing operation." Where's Joe Baum when you need him?
Per the executive director of the Port Authority, which is building the tower along with a private developer, "New York City already has plenty of great restaurants." Sure, but we bet those Condé Nasters would have liked pairing breakfast meetings with that view.
