Today Danny Meyer announces the name of his new Battery Park City semi-fine dining restaurant: North End Grill. What's more, the chef at the restaurant will be Floyd Cardoz of the freshly shuttered Tabla, and confirming previous rumors, the project will indeed have a seafood focus. He tells Flo Fab the new place is slated to open around the end of the year and will feature an open kitchen and a bar intended for drinks, not dining.
The restaurant is being pitched as an "informal American-style bar and grill." Meyer notes:
This fits in with my casual restaurants, like Union Square Cafe, the tavern at Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, and the Bar Room at the Modern?I don’t see this as a special-occasion place.North End Grill is one of three new projects in the area for Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. The other two are locations of Blue Smoke and the Shake Shack, which are also slated to open later this year.
