Just across the wire comes news that the NYPD has shut down venerable East Village bar Hi-Fi. According to the stickers plastered on the door, the bar was shut down for Illegal Sale of Alcohol but the bar's license is still active according to the SLA website, so this may have something to do with underage drinking. No matter how you slice it, this is a major blow to the neighborhood. Update: And they're open again! [EVG]
