Esquire restaurant features writer John Mariani penned a harsh review of chef Grant Achatz's memoir Life on the Line. Mariani asked that an anecdote about him be removed from the finished book, claiming that it was false, but the story made it in there. Achatz's business partner and co-author Nick Kokonas replied to Mariani in a statement to Eater National, saying "I stand by everything in the book." [Eater National]
