MEATPACKING DISTRICT—A subset of New York's glitterati are hosting Help Japan event and raffle tonight at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel, where guests can win prizes from the likes of Dan Colen, Balenciaga, Comme des Garcons. All proceeds go towards the American Red Cross in support of the Japan Earthquake and the Pacific tsunami relief. A great cause right? Here's the rub. The normal guest list policy is still in effect, so even Mr. John Q. Public wanted to win every raffle and donate thousands of dollars, they probably still wouldn't make it past the iPad ropes.
