An author goes deep undercover as a modern day Geisha girl at the midtown Japanese centric bar Karou, discovering a secret world of mostly Japanese salary men getting overcharged for drinks, karaoke singing and working girls denying their clients awkward advances. It took about a month of working at Karou to get the hang of the game and decide that it was best to leave, choosing to get out before anything too weird happened. But it still seems like a better place to work than the Light Group. [Village Voice]
