Southern Staple Acme Bar & Grill Closes After Nearly 25 Years

New, 8 comments

After nearly 25 years on Great Jones St., Noho southern joint Acme Bar & Grill has closed. EV Grieve brings the sad news, noting that management said "We've had our run and we're done." A worker also told Fork in the Road "We were here too long and there just wasn't enough business."

Although this was not one of the city's favorite Southern restaurants (or as popular as Great Jones Cafe a few blocks away), it was always relatively affordable, and a fun place to drink a few beers and eat some spicy food in the neighborhood. Oddly enough, the Acme team was just approved for a full liquor license from the CB2 less than a month ago. A new lease has already been signed, for what management says is "probably going to be another restaurant."
