Gabriel Stulman, owner of Jeffrey's Grocery in the West Village (and its sister restaurants Joseph Leonard and Fedora) tells us that his restaurant/grocer is closed for today and tomorrow. As those who have been there know, Jeffrey's kitchen setup is fairly minimal—a small counter with an induction burner and a toaster. And with the increased demand for their food, both the restaurant fare and the prepared meals served at the grocery counter up front, that needs to change.
During the closure, they'll be "revamping and enlarging" the kitchen by adding refrigeration, fire power, and prep space. Says Stulman, "It will let us make even more prepared foods for the day time, and allow us to expand our menus in more directions and complexity without killing ourselves and breaking our current equipment by trying to make it work too hard." They'll reopen Wednesday with an expanded menu. Check back here later to check it out.
