Welcome to Saturday Night Five, where we shine a light on the best quips, barbs, burns, and nuggets of truth from Eater NY commenters. Here's this week's cream of the crop:
5) Sneakeater reacts to Le Veau d'Or getting an America's Classics Award at the JBAs this year:
This is like Eli Wallach getting that special Oscar?4) Big B on Angelo Sosa's new restaurant, Social Eatz:
I'd like to try his food, but I am totally turned off by the "z" and social media concept aspect of it. Who wants to eat somewhere where the menu concept looks like it was created by some "srsly kewl high schoolerz"?
3) D Rock drops a bit of intel about strange newcomer Rockography:
So funny - this place has had paper on the windows though the build-out except at the very top so you can see the TVs running Clash concert videos all through the night...2) limousineliberal offers his thoughts on the NYPD horses defecating all over the LES:
You would think the NIMBYS would like the nostalgia of the smell. That's what the LES looked like 90/100 years ago. All those horse drawn carts selling their wares. People just love complaining.1) HFStone explains a few things about Sifton's latest review:
i'm not sure people are reading this review properly. "the food is just fine" was obviously meant as a transition using the popular 21st century technique known as understatement. "just fine" is to be read as a compound phrase, not as the disjointed "just" "fine," as in, "it's okay." this would be akin to having said "the restaurant's atmosphere is AMAZING, and, well, the food ain't bad either."Congrats to this week's Saturday Night Five! Next round's on us.see what i did there?
