Sam Talbot's Imperial No. 9 at the Mondrian Opens Today

Today, the brand spanking new Mondrian Hotel in Soho will open up Imperial No. 9, its sustainable seafood spot, to the public. Helmed by Surf Lodge chef Sam Talbot, the menu consists of about a dozen medium-sized 'share plates,' (ranging from $14 - 32) including cauliflower fritters with soft liquid centers, iberico ham paired with tuna on toast pieces (didn't you hear, toast is a trend now?), fried oysters with chow chow, and seared scallops with ricota salata.

The 180 seat dining area, designed by Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, is meant to evoke French film La Belle et la Bête—as is the whole hotel—and is split into two main spaces, the glassed in bar and lounge and the actual dining room. The complete menu will be available throughout.

Imperial No. Nine is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
