New York Fashion Week is finally here and Mister H, Armin Amiri's new lounge at the Mondrian Soho, will be holding some preview events during the big week. Amiri says the name, which is short for Mr. Hung, is inspired by a fictitious proprietor who would be Humphrey Bogart's bar of choice for an after work drink. The design was inspired by a 1930's era Shangai speakeasy that has "distressed damask walls, red leather banquettes and jade-and-gold-checkered floors" and will offer twelve reasonably priced specialty cocktails. That would depend on Amiri's definition of reasonable, but assume that they will run you anywhere from $10 to $16.
As we reported last week, Andre Saraiva's New York branch of Le Baron has hit further delays and will not be able to open in time for Fashion Week. But don't fret, Le Bain at the Standard will transform into Le Baron for the week to get all the kids excited for next month's real opening.
Meanwhile, Matt Kliegman tells us that Westway, which was expected to be ready for a Fashion Week debut, won't be ready in time. The club is also now gunning for an early March opening.
