A quiet stretch of Gowanus gets a new, relaxed watering hole in Halyards, now open on the corner of Sixth Street and Third Avenue. The bar is the project of Edward Colley, a carpenter who works in the neighborhood, who wanted to create a place where his friends and fellow artists could hang out. Colley did the interior work himself. So far, the bar serves beer and a small collection of top notch spirits (many of them are whiskeys). But, there are plans to offer sandwiches and snacks from local purveyors in the near future.
