The high-end Financial District restaurant Sho Shaun Hergatt is generally accepted by a great many food world folks—both pro and Chowhoundesque—to be a restaurant serving excellent food at a great price point in a somewhat uninviting room in a weird location. Its fans should be excited and perhaps worried to learn chef Hergatt is launching a new uber-discounted menu. His regular dinner prix fixe currently stands at $75 for three courses, standard for his level of restaurant. Now, reps send word that he's launching a "Closing Bell" dinner menu.
Served from 5:30 - 10 PM every weeknight in the Pearl Room, this menu runs just $35 a head and includes three courses and
complimentary wine pairings. So it's like restaurant week...all year round...at one of FiDi's most ambitious restaurants. According to press materials, the low price accounts for the experimental nature of the food, and Hergatt will use this menu to try out his new seasonal dishes that have yet to be seriously road tested. The first sample menu is below.
UPDATE: The SHO reps send word that there was an error in the press release, and the wine pairings are actually not complimentary, but available for an additional $25. Still a pretty serious deal.
