Sneak Peeking Sam Talbot's Imperial No. 9 at the Mondrian

The new Soho location of the Mondrian hotel, New York's first, officially opens to the public today on Crosby Street, just a week after its smoking hot club Mr. H debuted to the denizens of fashion week. Curbed NY is there of course with a look at the finished hotel and its full grown garden, so check out their much bigger gallery.
Of interest around these parts: a sneak peek at Imperial No. 9, the new seafood restaurant from Chef Sam Talbot, of Top Chef and Surf Lodge fame. The restaurant is still at least a week out, but take a look around at the early interior and garden shots. The decor, by designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, is heavy on the glass (chandeliers! skylights!), the greenery, and the white accents—especially noticeable in those white cushioned barstools. As is à la mode these days, one dining room is dominated by a large communal table.

There's no official menu as of yet, but in an interview last year, Talbot said the focus would be on seafood that's as sustainable as possible and mentioned that there would be nods to nearby Chinatown and a possible import from the Surf Lodge menu. Stay tuned for more.
