Rumors were swirling last month that David Rabin and his partners were close to inking a deal for the hospitality spaces at the Dream Downtown Hotel, but today Eater learns that is no longer the case. Multiple tipsters tell us that Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss are close to signing the deal to build and operate a rooftop lounge at the Dream, adding another jewel to their New York nightlife crown. Multiple parties were gunning for the space, which will have views that rival the Standard's double dose of fun, and Rabin confirms that he is out. According to an Eater operative, the deal between the Chatwals and the Strategic Group isn't signed yet, but will be in the next few weeks. It seems unlikely that they would open another large club to compete with Lavo, Avenue and Marquee, and the hotel could require that the space operate as an amenity for guests, so it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
