Some sad news today: Jimmy Bradley, the chef owner of The Red Cat and The Harrison is recovering from oral cancer treatment. His dentist spotted a tumor last fall and he had a surgery to remove it in November. Bradley is receiving ongoing radiation treatments, and thankfully, the long-term prognosis looks good. Although he has returned to the kitchen of The Harrison, the chef has decided to focus on his health, and has put his new project the J & S Food Hall in the Nolitan Hotel on indefinite hold.
Bradley tells Sam Sifton: "I just think at this point the best thing for me is to concentrate on my health and on the livelihood of the 100 people I already have working for me, not on hiring 50 people for a new business." He has regained his ability to speak following the surgery, and is working to redevelop his palate. Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery.
