The trend identifying hawks over at the James Beard Foundation come up with their "Food Trends to Watch for in 2012" listicle. On the list is what they're calling a "Thai Revival," and the JBF is totally taking credit for it. Quote: "[T]his year we watched the start of a reclamation. The cuisine got its first P.R. boost when Pok Pok's Andy Ricker won the 2011 JBF Award for Best Chef: Northwest." No mention of Kin Shop or Lotus of Siam, both of which opened in 2010.
