FLATIRON— Lulu & Me, a new restaurant from the owners of the now closed Mé Bar on top of the La Quinta Inn hotel on West 32nd Street, is now open on 5th Ave. near 28th St. in the former home of a Quizno's. The owners call it a "gastro-bar" and they serve panini and crostini, as well as some larger dishes. [DNA Info]
WILLIAMSBURG— Zagat notes that beer bar Loreley in Williamsburg will host a holiday marketplace on the weekends of December 10 and December 17. Look out for cupcakes, spoonable caramel sauces, and beer making kits. [Zagat]
CHELSEA— The Highliner, the diner that opened this year in the old Empire Diner space, has a bevvy of cheap blue plate specials, including Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursdays ($18), prime rib on Saturdays ($24), lasagna on Sundays ($16), and a lobster boil on Mondays ($19). [EaterWire]
RED HOOK— Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, also known as the guys behind Brooklyn's Baked bakery, have signed yet another cookbook deal with Stewart, Tabori & Chang — they've already written two books, Baked and Baked Explorations. This time, though, the deal is for a series of single-subject books that the team tells Eater is "a tip of the hat to the old school Time Life series stuff." [Eater National]
