East Village Polish Standby Polonia Shutters

New, 2 comments

It was apparent that East Village Polish standby Polonia was in a spot of trouble when the original owners' 22 year-old son oversaw a major overhaul of the space last fall in an attempt to drum up new business. He updated the decor, brought in a new chef, revamped and improved the menu, and added a bar. But it didn't exactly do the trick.

EV Grieve reports that the 25 year-old restaurant closed on Christmas Eve. Though in an announcement the owners do note that they're planning a new project called NYC Pierogi Factory, coming soon. Sounds like someone saw the success of The Meatball Factory and The Meatball Shop and got an idea. Here's hoping it works out for them.
