Albert Trummer's Theater Bar Closed 'Temporarily'

Albert Trummer has had a pretty strange year. The Austrian cocktail wizard was arrested twice by undercover fire marshals for his pyrotechnics and had to enter into mediation in order to peacefully extricate himself from his partners in Apotheke in Chinatown. This was only after his partner's brother allegedly held him hostage in a basement closet and violently assaulted him when he attempted to escape.

But on the bright side, Trummer was also able to open Theater Bar, his zany vision of a good night out where bartenders are really performers and birthday girls can enter via a giant white horse. But maybe it hasn't caught on with too many people because the bar has been closed for several weeks without anyone noticing. Co-owner Nicole Stillings tells Eater that the bar closed over the holidays to make some "minor renovations", which she says are primarily soundproofing upgrades needed in response to a new soundsystem. Stillings says the work is ongoing but they plan to open sometime in early to mid January and that Trummer is still completely involved in the bar.
