1) East Village: EV Grieve alerts us to the opening of Tompkins Square Bagels and provides some picture of the baked goods. The Local East Village reports that the owner also owns Court Street Bagels, and that he will serve Stumptown coffee, Balthazar and Bread Alone pastries, plus gluten free muffins from LifeThyme Natural Market, and bread from Amy's Bread. In the future he says they will work towards selling more of their own in house products. Status: Certified Open; 167 Avenue A near 10th Street.

2) Boerum Hill: Grub Street reports that Maimonide of Brooklyn, a vegetarian and vegan cafe, is now open. Many of the appetizer flat breads are shaped to resemble parts of the Brooklyn Bridge and they also serve open-faced vegetarian sandwiches that are shaped to look like national landmarks. Status: Certified Open; 525 Atlantic Avenue, near Third Avenue.

The large, bi-level space has a basement with ping pong tables and giant plasma screens that can be rented out for parties. Status: Certified Open; Corner of 86th Street and Amsterdam.

5) Upper West Side: My Upper West reports that Jacob's Pickles, a new bar and restaurant serving American comfort foods, is now open. Beer, pickles and homemade foods can be purchased in the front of the space.
