Failed 900 Degrees Space to Open as Rafele in February

New, 17 comments

Over the last week, West Village tipsters have written in to note that serious work is going down at 29 7th Avenue South, most recently home to promising but ultimately failed pizzeria 900 Degrees. Now Zagat reports that it will open in February as Rafele.

Named after its chef and owner Raffaele Ronca, the restaurant will serve Neapolitan fare in a 70 space seat space with a large outdoor cafe. He's even importing a special Italian Acunto brick oven and rotisserie for making specialties like porchetta and stuffed quail. Ronca was most recently chef at Palma on Cornelia Street and before that Bellavitae on Minetta. Let's hope he has better luck than his predecessor.
