Dark Room Closing To Make Way For Bodegas

New, 1 comment

News from the good old Lower East Side, as it seems that the Dark Room's days are numbered. The Ludlow Street veteran has apparently been up for sale for some time and has finally found a buyer. According to Bowery Boogie, one Michael Auerbach has signed an agreement to take over the space (pending approval of a liquor license transfer), and will open Bodegas, a replacement lounge that will apparently also offer a raw bar. While things often got raw inside the Dark Room during the bar's hey day, it is difficult to imagine slurping down raw seafood in the subterranean, windowless room. The transfer goes in front of CB 3 in December, and since it's already licensed, it seems safe to say that this one will pass.
