Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) White Truffle Day at Eataly
Where: 200 Fifth Avenue
When: Sunday from 10 AM - 9 PM
What: Eataly is celebrating fresh white truffles this Sunday. There will be Piedmontese specials at all of the restaurants on the ground floor, and you can get a $38 truffle supplement on any dish. The market will be selling whole white truffles for $5.80 a gram.
2) M.Wells Winter Carnival at MoMA PS1
Where: 22-25 Jackson Ave.
When: Saturday from 12 - 6 PM
What: The team behind critically-acclaimed, now-shuttered Long Island City restaurant M. Wells are hosting a Winter Carnival in the courtyard of MoMA's P.S. 1. They're going to serve wood-oven duck cassoulet and slices of their famous tourtières (meat pies), plus maple pies, pecan pies, and maple taffy. Pies can be pre-ordered in whole form by writing here. The event will also feature live music, ice sculptures, warm drinks, gingerbread houses, and porchetta and grilled meats from LIC Italian restaurant Manducatis. Admission is $10 (unless you're just picking up a pie).
3) The Cookie Takedown 2011 at The Bell House
Where: 149 Seventh St.
When: Sunday at 3 PM
What: The Bell House is hosting its annual cookie takedown, where guests will sample 30 kinds of cookies and vote for their favorites. The event will feature an hour of free eggnog from Bulleit Bourbon. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online.
4) Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Where: 149 Kent Avenue
When: Saturday from 5 PM - 1 AM
What: Tonight is the final night of this indoor bazaar, which features live music and over 100 vendors, including food stalls from: Asia Dog, Bite Size Kitchen, Bon Chovie, Le Comptoir and Luke's Lobster. There's no admission fee, but the performances are ticketed.
5) Adventsingen at Zum Schneider
Where: 107 Avenue C
When: Sunday starting at 1 PM
What: This Bavarian bar and restaurant is throwing a holiday party, with traditional roast Christmas goose, caroling, Christmas cookies, and mulled wine. It's a popular event, so get there early if you want a seat.
