64 Greenwich Ave., West Village
Status: Opens tonight for dinner, next week for lunch
The Meatball Shop, the meatball-centric restaurant concept that has grown from one LES storefront to a three unit chain with a cookbook in under two years, expands to the West Village today. The new location is about the same size as the Lower East Side original and contains roughly 50 seats and a small bar area. It serves the same menu of meatballs in various permutations with sundry bread, bowl, and topping options and a selection of ice cream sandwiches. What's new this time around: a) a kids menu, served weekdays from 3 - 5 PM once daytime service starts on the 14th and b) family-friendly to-go packages for $10 a person.
Dinner service launches tonight.
