Folk rock loving and fashion forward surfer chef Sam Talbot has left his eight month-old Mondrian Hotel restaurant Imperial No. 9. Sources close to the chef tell Eater he gave his notice today and is citing irreconcilable differences over the future vision of the restaurant and nightlife spaces. Rumor has it the powers that be at Mondrian recently brought on Vegas' The Light Group to bring some of their special nightlife magic to the restaurant and the hotel's bar and club Mister H.
Talbot, who earned two stars from Platt and a goose egg from Sifton for his work at the restaurant, is going to focus on selling his new cookbook and looking into new restaurant opportunities.
