In April, a slew of brand name eateries, including Sushi of Gari and Luke's Lobster will join the thriving Plaza Food Hall in the nether regions of the famed hotel as part of a $6 million upgrade. Another big name to add to the roster: Salumeria Rosi. Inside sources tell Eater that Salumeria Rosi chef and owner Cesare Casella is incredibly close to finalizing a deal for a 800 square foot space in the growing food court. It will offer the same kind of menu as the original deli and restaurant on the Upper West Side, but may limit the offerings somewhat given its small size.
Even though the deal is newer, this Salumeria will most likely open before the one planned for the Upper East Side on Madison Ave. between 72nd and 73rd Streets. That location is much larger, is located within a landmark building, and requires much more work. Plaza Food Hall fans should note that while these restaurants aren't coming until the spring, Todd English's original section of the food court expands this week.
