XL, New York's Largest Gay Nightclub, Preps For Opening

New, 9 comments

It's better late than never for XL, the former Chelsea gay bar, that is set to reopen as a mega dance club, theater and event space inside of New York's first gay hotel, The Out NYC. XL was supposed to open for business this past summer, but Hurricane Irene significantly damaged the building's roof, thus delaying the opening.

But now owners John Blair and Beto Sutter are putting the finishing touches on a 14,000-square-foot club that will be able to hold up to 650 people on the dance floor, and they're getting ready to unleash XL's massiveness to the public in January, 2012. The owners are confident that their megay club is going to succeed by drawing in people from the Hell's Kitchen area, because as Blair explains to DNAInfo "all the buildings around us are very, very gay."
