Todd English's year-old Plaza Food Hall has done such a great job at livening up the dreary subterranean concourse of the famed Plaza Hotel and is raking in such serious cash that the hotel is moving to expand the food offerings. The Times reports that on Wednesday, Todd English's space and menu will increase by 10 percent, part of a $3 million expansion. And in April of next year, a whole slew of new food vendors, 17 to be exact, will come in to replace the less successful retail vendors that currently populate the concourse. Vendors include everything from runaway hit lobster shack Luke's Lobster to uber high end Sushi of Gari, and desserts from euro fave Sant Ambroeus, La Maison du Chocolat, Tartinery, and Lady M Cake Boutique. This will cost an additional $3 million.
What's English adding next week? 100 seats, a pasta bar, a cheese and charcuterie shop, a sommelier's tasting table, a chef's demo table, and watch out, a 17 seat cocktail bar. He tells the Times, "finally we’ll have enough room to do mixology." Finally.
