Shake Shack to Hit Long Island in 2012

New, 10 comments

Danny Meyer's ever expanding Shake Shack brand has reached it greasy delicious tentacles up to Connecticut, down to D.C. and Miami, over to Brooklyn, and across the sea to Dubai and Kuwait. And now they're ready for a little more down home expansion—to Long Island. But instead of The Hamptons or the North Fork or Montauk or Long Beach, they're going to Westbury, Long Island, about a half hour drive from Midtown Manhattan and right on the LIRR and within striking range of all Hofstra students.

According to a release today, the new Shack will open in 2012 and will be built from the ground up within an upcoming development. Presumably, it will be the second Shack, after the one in Connecticut, that is mainly built for customers arriving via car, a hint that there could be more suburban-ready Shacks on the way.

Those with summer shares will just have to keep waiting for a beachside Shackburger.
