Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

2011_back_forty1.jpg1) East Coast V. West Coast Oysters at Back Forty
Where: 190 Avenue B
When: Saturday, 3 - 5:30 PM.
What: Peter Hoffman's East Village American restaurant is hosting an oyster fest this afternoon, with two shucking stations serving east coast and west coast oysters (most for $2, some for $4). A $25 entrance fee also gets you unlimited passed hors d'oeuvres, local beer, and Muscadet. Reservations can be made via Brown Paper Tickets.

2011_meat_pies_m_wells1.jpg2) M. Wells at the Last Smorgasburg of the Year
Where: 27 N. 6th St, Williamsburg
When: Saturday, 9 AM - 5 PM
What: Today is the last day of the season for Smorgasburg, the weekly food fest on the Williamsburg waterfront. It will return in the spring, and starting next week sister market The Brooklyn Flea and several of the Smorgasburg vendors will move to the Skylight One Hanson space in the former Williamsburg Savings Bank for the duration of the winter. (They're also going to start Smorgasbrewery, a mini-food fest at the Brooklyn Brewery for the wintertime.) As a special for the last day, the team from critically-acclaimed, recently shuttered Queens diner M. Wells will be selling Quebecois-style meat pies filled with beef, chicken, guinea hen, pork, venison, rabbit, onions, and potatoes. Several of the other vendors will also be offering Thanksgiving-themed specials.

2011_truffle_day_eataly1.jpg3) Truffle Day at Eataly
Where: 200 Fifth Ave
When: Sunday
What: All of the restaurants inside of the mega food emporium will be offering a $45 white truffle supplement, and you can buy whole white truffles for $7.50 a gram in the market. There will also be special Piedmontese dishes at every Eataly restaurant.

2011_thanksgiving_guide1_somethign1.jpg4) Thanksgiving Prep
Where/When: All over the city, all weekend
What: If you haven't made plans for Thursday yet, do consult Eater's guide to eating out on Thanksgiving and also the guide to ordering take-out Thanksgiving dinners in NYC. There are also a few of charitable events around town this weekend related to the big holiday: Ellabess is accepting food donations for the Bowery Mission all weekend (guests will receive a voucher for a free appetizer at the restaurant if they make a donation); and City Harvest will be at the Union Square Greenmarket today, accepting donations (if you drop off food, they'll give you a copy of their dining guide Great Food, Good Hearts). If you just want to enjoy some holiday-themed food specials, consider the Milk Bar's Thanksgiving croissant or the Thanksgiving pie at Pizza by Cer Te.

2011_brooklyn_chili_takedown1.jpg5) Brooklyn Chili Takedown
Where: 149 7th Street, Brooklyn
When: Sunday, 2PM
What: The Bell House is hosting a chili competition with over 30 varieties of chili from amateur cooks. Tickets are $15.
