Where: 5 West 19th Street
When: Saturday, 12 - 6 PM
What: The hip wine bar near the Flatiron will be serving turkey, stuffing, and dessert (all ingredients sourced from the Union Square Greenmarket) paired with an assortment of reds and whites so that customers can learn about how to match wine to Thanksgiving dishes. Tickets for the tasting are $20 per person, with net proceeds going to City Harvest. The 30 minutes slots are filling up quickly, so make a reservation online if you plan on going.

2011_chocolate_show1.jpg2) The Chocolate Show New York
Where: 125 W 18th Street
When: All weekend
What: The organizers are calling this the "world's largest event dedicated to chocolate." Over 65 chocolatiers will be offering samples all weekend, and the event will also feature cooking demos, book signings, activities for kids, and more. Tickets are $30 - $40 and can be ordered online.

Where: 100 Peck Slip
When: Sunday, 11 AM - 5 PM
What: The weekly market at the South Street Seaport is hosting a pickle-themed fest with over 75 vendors (including 20 pickle purveyors), a selection of craft beers for $5 a pour, music by Sylvester Manor Worksongers, and a talk with Mimi Sheraton and Jessamyn Waldman about the history of Bialys. Admission is free, but you need to e-mail the market to reserve a seat for the talk. Tickets are also available in advance for a special $13 beer and bialy deal.

2011_brooklyn_kitchen1_pie1.jpg4) Daisy Flour Pie Contest at Brooklyn Kitchen
Where: 100 Frost Street
When: Saturday at 2 PM
What: The Brooklyn Kitchen is hosting a savory pie making contest. A $5 ticket includes entry into the competition and you can eat pies, drink beer, and vote for your favorite creation. The contest is a fundraiser for The Greenpoint Reformed Church Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen.

2011_truffles_12.jpg5) Trufflemania
When: All weekend
Where: All over the city
What: For the next few weeks, the restaurants of New York will be serving delicious, rare white truffles from Italy. They're not cheap, but if you want to sample this fall delicacy, consult Eater's guide to white truffle dining in NYC. At some restaurants like Del Posto and Marc Forgione, you can get them shaved over anything you want.

2011_allswell1weekend.jpgAlso of Note: Smorgasburg is today on the Williamsburg waterfront. For a new restaurant to try, consider Parm, Allswell, Whitehall, Littleneck in Gowanus, or the new Bowery location of Forcella.
