For awhile now rumors have swirled that Salumeria Rosi, chef Cesare Casella's excellent and tiny neighborhood restaurant and takeaway meat joint, is ripe for expansion. And now Steve Cuozzo confirms it.
Casella declined to share his plans but confirmed to the Post that he now has a lease at 903 Madison Avenue, between 72nd and 73rd Streets, a location that is pretty much directly across the park from his Upper West Side restaurant. He is currently seeking a wine and beer license for the 1,377 square foot space with Community Board 8 up there. Given the success of the original Salumeria Rosi, he would do just fine opening an exact replica.
