Last night, internationally acclaimed Australian Thai food guru David Thompson (Nahm, Sailor's Thai), made a rare New York City cooking appearance at West Village restaurant Betel. Helping out in the kitchen were fellow Aussie chef Shaun Hergatt and Andy Ricker, the fellow white boy Thai chef from Portland's Pok Pok. Ricker said he's still aggressively scouting a Brooklyn space for his eastward expansion but hasn't signed any papers yet. Also in attendance: Pichet Ong, Fatty Empire Builder Zak Pelaccio.
