Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:
1) Horror Movies at The Cannibal
Where: 113 29th Street
When: Saturday and Sunday, 6 PM - Midnight.
What: This new meat-centric market and restaurant is doing more Halloween - themed movie and food pairings this weekend. On deck for tonight: the "Treehouse of Horror" episodes of The Simpsons, Last Man on Earth, and Dawn of the Dead, paired with slow roasted sheep's head. Tomorrow night, they're showing Cannibal Holocaust, Halloween, and White Zombie, with corned beef tongue. Screenings are at 6 PM, 8 PM, and 10 PM.
2) Dia de Los Muertos at Pulqueria
Where: 11 Doyers Street
When: Saturday, 6 PM - Midnight
What: Christopher and Heather Tierney's stylish new Mexican bar and restaurant is hosting a special Dia De Los Muertos party tonight, where they will be serving a $50 three-course menu of traditional Mexican food. The dinner includes one specialty cocktail. Reservations recommended; 212-227-3099.
3) 6th Annual Halloween Tasting at Bottlerocket
Where: 5 West 19th Street
When: Saturday, 2 - 5 PM
What: This hip wine store near the Flatiron is hosting a Halloween candy tasting with wine and spirit pairings. The menu includes: dark chocolate kisses with red wine, candy corn and chardonnay, and pixie stix with vodka. There will also be a few specialty Halloween cocktails. This is a family-friendly event, and there will be an area for the kids to play while the adults sample the goods. Admission is free.
4) Meat Cutting with Adam Tiberio at New Amsterdam Market
Where: The New Amsterdam Market School, 224 Front Street
When: Sunday, 2 - 5 PM
What: The weekly market at the South Street Seaport is hosting a special demonstration from Adam Tiberio of the soon-to-open Tiberio Custom Meats. In the demo, Adam will breakdown a whole cow, showing how to use the different parts of the meat. A few cuts will be cooked and served to attendees. 5) Pumpkin Carving Contest at Ardesia:
Where: 510 West 52nd Street
When: Sunday, 4 - 6 PM
What: This popular Hell's Kitchen wine bar and restaurant is holding a pumpkin carving contest on Sunday. For $30, you can carve a pumpkin and enjoy unlimited wine, beer, and snacks. Pre-registration required if you want to carve a pumpkin; e-mail info@ardesia-ny.com.
Also of Note: There might still be some tickets left for The Meat Hook's crazy-sounding Midnight Mass dinner tonight with special guest Lee Tiernan. Christina Tosi is doing a signing of the new Momofuku Milk Bar Cookbook at Whisk in Brooklyn today from 2 - 4 PM. Nitehawk Cinemas is now serving booze inside the theater, in addition to food.
