Robert Berry, a hot chefs alum and most recently the chef in charge at Chelsea favorite Cookshop, just started working as executive chef at Monument Lane, a neighborhood spot that opened over on Greenwich Ave. in April. Then job was originally held by chef Brian Murphy, who left in August citing "irreconcilable operational and creative differences."
He is serving a menu the owners describe as market-driven American "boldly accented with influences from France and the American South." And, so, the new menu features items like ham biscuits with molasses butter, pork rillettes with pickles, country pate, and Creekstone Farms short ribs. So far the restaurant hasn't received a great deal of critical attention, but perhaps the critics will give Berry a shot.
