Lavish Russian bar and restaurant Onegin soft opens tonight in the old Uno Chicago Grill space on Sixth Avenue at Waverly Place. Much of the menu is devoted to traditional dishes like beef Stroganoff, caviar and blini, and chicken Kiev, many of which are prepared using a wood-burning stove. The space features plush banquettes, huge chandeliers, and 19th century-style portraits on the ceilings. In one corner, there's a bar with about eight seats, and a lounge area which seats about 20.
The grand opening is Friday for dinner, with lunch and brunch rolling out soon after that. Take a look around, and check out the menu and the cocktail list below.
