As the owners of The Meatball Shop on the Lower East Side have built on their sudden and runaway success by opening new outposts in Brooklyn and the West Village and writing a cookbook, others want in on that sweet, saucy meatball action. And so, as reported, The Meatball Factory has been going up for awhile now over on the corner of East 14th Street and 2nd Avenue. Now reps reveal that it will open on October 25, and it will be run by Top Chef alum Dave Martin, most recently of Vynl and that fry truck.
They'll serve "upscale comfort food including house ground gourmet meatballs with a twist, such as the Turducken Meatball, the Short Rib Meatball (Meatzza, Meatzza) and the Braised Pork Meatball which will be paired with a variety of sauces including Green Curry Peanut, Salsa Verde, Fire Roasted Marinara and Truffle Cream." Just to make sure they're not confused with that other meatball-centric shop, they promise to serve salads, pizzas, cheese fries, pastas, and sundaes. See the menu over here.
