Baohaus' Eddie Huang breaks the news that Portland chef Andy Ricker of Pok Pok fame (who won the Beard Award for Best Chef Northwest 2011) is bringing his infamous chicken wings to New York City. For awhile now Ricker has discussed opening up shop in Red Hook, and those plans aren't off the table, but first he'll take over Huang's original recently shuttered Baohaus space on Rivington Street. Writes Huang: "[H]e told me he was looking for a spot that size to do a wing shack. I made him an offer, we shook hands, and within three weeks, all you gonna hear is bitches screamin' 2 Pok."
Ricker tells Eater that he'll be serving Ike's Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings, papaya salad made to order, sticky rice, a few specials, and the drinking vinegars the chef has been working on for awhile now. There is no opening date as of yet but, he promises it will happen before the New Year.
